The Arts

At Delacombe Primary School, our Visual Arts program offers students from Prep through to Grade 6 opportunities to immerse themselves in a variety of art forms, inspiring creative action, aesthetic joy, and emotional response.

There is a particular focus on the arts elements, principles and conventions, skills, and techniques. Students explore and respond to their own art and the artwork of others. Student voice and agency features strongly within our Visual Arts program, which empowers students and provides them with, opportunity to give feedback to each other and to their teachers.

Our Visual Arts curriculum is underpinned by the famous quote from Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist”. We pride ourselves on equipping our students with the skills, interest, enthusiasm, and confidence to say, “I can do that!”, when faced with a creative challenge. Through our Visual Arts program explicit teaching of the process of working through an artwork, as well as the skills and techniques needed to complete the task, help to boost student’s artistic confidence and feelings of self-worth.

Our Visual Arts program celebrates both national and international artists, and where applicable, complements the classroom inquiries.

Our student’s artwork is showcased throughout the school’s corridors, celebrating their artistic achievements and creating an inspiring, student focussed learning environment.
